Pharmacist highly trusted for flu advice

ALMOST as many people turned to pharmacists as doctors for advice on dealing with cold and flu symptoms, according to a consumer survey. When asked about who they turned to for advice, respondents named pharmacists 506 times, doctors 510 times and family 281 times. The survey of 1,003 people was commissioned by Codral and carried out by Sydney-based agency Pure Profile. John Bell from the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia said pharmacists were best placed to provide consumers with advice on the effective management and treatment of cold and flu symptoms. "Pharmacists play a highly valued role in the treatment of cold and flu by providing consumers with the best solution that will meet their individual needs and help resolve their cold and flu symptoms quickly and effectively," he said. "We also play an important role in helping consumers maintain their health and wellbeing throughout the year".
